We offer piano lessons in Bellevue, WA (Eastside)– our location is close to the
520 and 405 freeways and can be easily reached from Redmond, Kirkland,
Issaquah, Sammamish, Mercer Island, Medina, Newcastle and Seattle:
We offer piano instruction for individual as well as group piano classes. For one-on-one piano lessons, please email us at ParnassusPiano@gmail.com.
Group piano lessons are an increasingly more popular method of learning how to
play the piano. This method is often employed by universities and colleges as
well, but more and more beginners are opting for this method since kids (as well
as adults) enjoy learning in groups, and tuition is a fraction of what private lessons
cost. Learning material and concept presentation is similar to one-on-one lessons,
but there are 3-8 students per class (in our school we never have more than 8 per
class). Each student is seated at a brand new highest quality digital piano and has
headphones with attached microphone to communicate with the teacher. There is
a camera focused on the teacher's hands & keyboard and a projector shows a large
image of this on a screen so that students can observe at all times. Students are
grouped according to age and level and are taught simultaneously, and they hear
only the teacher and their own piano. The teacher has cordless headphones and can
walk up to each student separately when needed, although everyone is taught the
same concept at one time, which is why we do not have different ages and levels
in one group (where the teachers would have to give many short individual lessons
to each student, slowing down the learning process.) The teacher can listen to one
student at a time, the entire group at a time, or can pair students off for duets as
well as any other combination. We have the most advanced WiFi conferencing
system available and you can view a video here.
Our group piano classes take place in state-of-the-art facilities that allow us to take full advantage of all of the latest technology in music. It is of the utmost importance for all piano students to have lessons on the highest quality instruments available and with quality teachers in order to develop proper piano technique and nurture creativity and understanding of music.
We conducted a very long and extensive search to find the best piano teachers with the highest qualifications. Each of our teachers has a degree (including doctorates) from world class music universities and conservatories and years of teaching experience. Please click here for information on our wonderful and motivating piano instructors.
New groups begin every few weeks, at least once or twice a month, so check with us as soon as possible to see when the next group begins (and to find out what day and time weekly lessons are available)– everyone in that class will start from the beginning.
Each student will be learning on a brand new Yamaha digital piano of the highest quality (CLP-525) – with the most advanced touch sensitive "Real Grand Expression" - sound, touch, pedals–perfectly integrated to give one the sensation of playing a grand piano. Every student will also have headphones with a microphone so that they can interact with the teacher who will have the ability to work with an individual student, a small group of students for an ensemble, or the entire class at once. There will also be a projection screen with various angles of close-ups of the teacher's hands so that each student can easily see what the teacher is demonstrating at the keyboard.
Currently, we are offering a special discount of only $45 for a weekly 55 minute lesson – our regular rates are $60 per lesson, but if you join now, you will be locked into the discounted rate for the duration of your enrollment. This special will not last long so join today. We accept checks (made out to Parnassus School of Piano), major credit cards (please add 3% processing fee), Chase Quick Pay and Paypal (account name details will be provided upon enrollment). However, there are no make ups or refunds if a student misses a class or plans on missing a class, which is why our tuition is one of the lowest you will find.
Tuition is charged monthly according to the number of lessons in our schedule and we will email you an invoice. As in regular school, there are no make ups or refunds if a student misses a class or plans on missing a class, which is why our tuition is one of the lowest you will find.
As in regular school, there are no make ups or refunds if a student misses a class or plans on missing a class, which is why our tuition is so affordable. However, each class begins with a brief review of material from the previous class so everyone will be updated.
Each group will have as few as 3 and no more than 8 students per class (see above).
The recommended age is 5 and up -and we accept adults as well. Our classes will be grouped according to age so that everyone can be taught at the same time. We will have separate groups for very young beginners (5-6), young beginners (7-9), older beginners (10-13), teenagers, and a group for adults as well.
Yes, please see above.
Each month or even twice a month, a new group will begin. Lessons will be scheduled for weekdays (after school hours) and Saturdays and Sundays as well – please contact us to find out more.
Each weekly lesson will be almost an hour in duration – there is just not enough time in shorter lessons to cover the necessary material.
There is one lesson per week and we mostly follow the public school calendar – we will inform every student monthly of any holidays.
There are no contracts and students can move on to private lessons with one of our teachers at any time (or discontinue). We do ask for 4 weeks notice should student wish to discontinue lessons. Once enrolled, however, students are expected to attend and pay (monthly) for regular weekly lessons (except for scheduled holidays.) Please see above for more information on tuition.
The teacher will give students weekly assignments with information on how (and how much) to practice. This is necessary for proper progress. Students should practice daily, the amount will depend on age and level – but it could start from as little as 20 minutes for very young beginners and move up from there.
Most students first start by purchasing a digital piano - as long as the keyboard is weighted, 88 full sized keys, and touch sensitive for dynamics and has a pedal attachment. Acoustic pianos can be very expensive, but digital pianos can cost a fraction of that and can serve a beginner for the first few years before parents are ready to make a commitment to long term lessons and the purchase of an acoustic piano. Please email us for recommendations on digital pianos and where to buy.
Yes, and we will offer everyone information on which books to buy and where, (depending on which age group.) The goal of our group piano lessons is to develop the student's individual musical interests and abilities and prepare them for future individual lessons. Our teachers inspire, educate, motivate and enrich our student's minds. Students will learn to play and recognize rhythms, note reading, understand basic music theory, learn proper technique at the piano and play elementary pieces. Each student will be given a handout at the end of class explaining what to practice at home and the piano method books we use explain all the concepts very clearly so that parents (who are welcome to be in the room) can be supportive during practice at home.
We will make every effort to make sure that students are grouped according to age and ability so that the learning process can go smoothly. Even though this is a group class, our focus and goal is to make sure every individual student makes the necessary progress and enjoys the classes.
We strongly believe that students would continue in group piano classes for no more than 2 years, after which they can move on to private piano lessons with one of our great teachers – however, at any point, the student is welcome to make this decision.
As you can see, we put a great deal of work (and have the most experience) into making sure that we offer the best possible class piano lessons available anywhere – we have the greatest teachers, the best possible pianos and equipment, a perfect location, the lowest rates, and the best program. Our teachers are passionate, dedicated, we have a warm and friendly, enthusiastic atmosphere and everyone enjoys learning piano at Parnassus!
After an appropriate number of lessons, we organize (optional) student recitals – dates and location TBA – this is something everyone looks forward to and is a great motivating tool for students as well.
Yes, we are planning summer classes and summer piano camps – please check in with us for more information.

However, each class begins with a brief review of material from the previous class so everyone will be updated. There will be separate chairs in part of the teaching studio for parents to sit quietly and listen to the class as well as take notes if they wish. This is not required – as in school, students can manage on their own. However, parents are more than welcome to attend – only one parent per child due to limited space, but please, no recordings, cell phones, computers or laptops.
We do have a waiting room should parents wish to wait outside of the piano studio. Our location is very convenient since there are many shops, restaurants and cafes located nearby as well. There is also plenty of parking in the office complex.
We will be organizing an orientation once a week for new students and parents - please email us at ParnassusPiano@gmail.com.
Mount Parnassus (/pɑːrˈnæsəs/; Greek: Παρνασσός, Parnassos) is a mountain in central Greece that towers above Delphi, north of the Gulf of Corinth. According to Greek mythology, it was the home of the Muses. The Muses, in Greek mythology are the goddesses of the inspiration of literature, science, and the arts (including Euterpe, the Greek Muse of music). We find the name to be inspirational and very appropriate for a music school of the highest level!
